What Color Do You Like?

Color is important when creating products, websites, or services.

Industrial Design ("ID") and Human Computer Interface ("HCI") are two fields that focused on that aspect of creation.  ID is the weaving of the physical world of tactile cues that allow for easy changes to a device's settings.  HCI is the interaction of the software and hardware world with people.  Color plays an important role in the interface models.

In the real-world, we choose color to signify what we wear, the color of an iPhone, a handbag, a car color.  Color can affect how products are received and used.  It is the comfort and ease of engagement that defines a successful product lifecycle.  If you notice with Nike shoes or the Apple iPhone, color is the new trend going into 2014 - 2015.  Style and luxury are part of the color influence.

Getting back to ID and HCI, as Robotics and immersive interfaces are thought up and released over the next few years, the usage of color to weave together concepts, create functional cues, and provide a great experience will blend together.  The world of Design will embrace the software, hardware, and design aspects in most products going forward.

What Color do you like? Mine is Blue.
